What are asphalt tarps used for?
Asphalt tarps are mainly used to cover hot asphalt while it’s being moved from the plant to the jobsite, helping keep the load from cooling too quickly.
Can I use a vinyl tarp without a heat rating for asphalt loads?
A vinyl tarp may be used if not in direct physical contact with hot asphalt. A heat-resistant rated asphalt tarp is needed if the tarp will be in direct contact with the asphalt load.
Are mesh tarps suitable for asphalt hauling?
No, a mesh tarp is more often used for gravel, sand, aggregate, or debris since those loads don’t need heat retention the way asphalt does.
